"Thousands of Words" is an original soundtrack insert song composed in 1973 by Taiwanese musician Zuo Hongyuan for the film "The Young Ones". Performed by Teresa Teng, it was first released on the "The Young Ones Original Soundtrack" album and, following its release, garnered widespread popularity across Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia.
This song is a favorite of a friend of mine and was requested by him a few years ago. I recorded this song in part to thank him for all his support and help with my singing over the years. It took me a while to get around to recording, as I've only recently become confident enough with my singing technique to tackle it. It's also been a while since I've sung in Chinese (though in this version I incorporated some Japanese lyrics), so this was a good opportunity to switch things up a little.
The piano recording I used in this video was a standalone recording rather than an accompanying soundtrack, which is why it and my singing may sound disjointed at times. I hope this cover is pleasant to listen to nevertheless.
